Agora Nice-Est
Agora is a not-for-profit association settled in the town buildings “Centre Animation et Loisirs” – 2 pont René Coty 06300 Nice – It published in the official paper of the 6th may 1972.
Agora exists since 1969 depending on the “Fédération des Maisons des Jeunes et de la Culture” (a national social and cultural foundation dealing with the youth and poor population). During 2010 Agora had 135 workers who equal 21 fulltime.
It counted 1537 members.
Agora’s social and educative program is:
- Leisure and holidays centers for youth from 3 up to 17 years old.
- Extra-school actions and reading workshops (from 4 up to 12 years old) with different small groups
- Cultural and sports actions for all people, but in priority for youth (from 6 up to 24 years old)
- Social and cultural mediations around grown up and families that are in need
- Cultural happenings and events
- Popular school of music giving access in learning music to the lowest class of the population.
Settled in a disadvantaged district of Nice, MJC Agora Nice-Est aimed to every kinds of publics. The association is laic and is wide open to every one.
Agora can provide its services to the population of its proximity with its expertise in popular education.
Agora’s main aims are:
- increase social links and provide social, cultural and inter-age mixes among the population
- give access to every kind of population to the culture
- participate to the learnt of reading and teaching sport and artistic practices
- participate in training citizenship for people.
